Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Sciences and Research is a 1500 bedded multi-speciality hospital and medical college. The hospital is the country's first and largest public hospital made of steel. At 78 m in height, it's Gujarats tallest hospital, and built within 1.10 lakh square meters. SVP is designed as per the Joint Commission International (JCI) standards in case of emergency, patients are relocated to a safer place in a short span of time, which has 18 floors, 2 basements, and a helipad. The only hospital to have physiotherapy, medical, and nursing college on the same campus, with separate hostel for boys and girls which can accommodate 550 students.

As one of the largest public hospitals in India, Gujarat government was concerned with the safety of the hospital including hundreds of patients, medical students and health professionals as hospital could be a potential spot and hostage for terrorists as well as vulnerable to geopolitical risks. The receives serval packages and medical products from external sources on a daily basis and lack of security inspection of the packages could lead to devastating incidents such as boom blasting, etc. Hence, to safeguard the people in the hospital, the government officials required a powerful security inspection solution that could detect potential threats in hospital materials in an instance.

Solution:

After a comprehensive discussion with the healthcare officials, ZKTeco offered ZKX5030A based Baggage X-Ray Scanner. The inspection system was installed at the storage room of the hospital. The hospital security operators were given training on how to use the device by ZKTeco technical experts. The material received by the hospital need to pass through the inspection device. The device consists of a special monitor which scans the materials for potential threats, if the products do not contain any security threat, the products will come out of the other side of the device without any indication. On the other hand, if the materials do have any security threat which would get indicated in the security monitor altering the security operator for taking necessary action. In addition, the security inspection system offers robust features and overcomes several shortcomings of conventional inspection systems.
