Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) is located in Gujarat, established under the act PDPU in 2007 by the government of India. The university is one of the top institutions in India as per National Institutional Ranking Framework. PDPU has also been awarded Scientific & Industrial Research Organization recognition by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. The university has four schools, located on the same campus. The schools include the School of Petroleum Technology, School of Technology, School of Petroleum Management, and School of Liberal Studies. The university also has its own 1-megawatt solar power plant. The Government of Gujarat has decided to set up an international Centre of Excellence in Automobile at PDPU with investment of Rs. 150 Crores in joint venture with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.

Client Requirements

Challenge

The university administration decided to enforce the security of the university campus to safeguard their students against potential threats such as external infiltration, geopolitical issues, etc. Furthermore, the administration was faced with difficulties in maintaining student regularity as well as accurate student attendance records as students are more prone to attendance forging and fraudulent activities. Hence, they wanted a solution to keep a track record of student check in/ check out activities to maintain student regularity and as well as for attendance calculations.

Solution :

To address the issues faced by the PDPU administration, ZKTeco granted SBT1000S Swing Barrier and TS1000 Pro Tripode Turnstile for entrance control management and IN02-A terminals for student attendance requirements. In addition, the TS1000 Pro and IN02-A were integrated together. Hence, when students give their fingerprint to gain access inside, automatically their attendance also will get registered making it convenient for both staffs and students. Furthermore, the fingerprint terminals were enclosed with metallic case and attached with Turnstile system offering protection to the devices as well as preventing students from manipulating data entries. By default, the tripod arms are held in a locked position, thus denying access to the secured side. Hence, only students and staffs with pre-registered fingerprint access can pass through the system. On the other hand, people without fingerprint access won't be able enter into the organization preventing any external infiltration. During emergency circumstances the tripod arms completely collapse, thereby ensuring unencumbered exit to safety.

Results:

• Students regularity has been established.

• Real-time monitoring of check in/ check out activities of students.

• Productivity of the staffs has been increased.

• Unauthorized entry has been prevented.
