Project Description:
Project Site:
In recent years, Hong Kong has been a crucial hub for alternative investment product trading. Wines, liquor, tea, jade jewellery, coins, almost all items you can name can been found in Hong Kong, and of course, cigars. Cigar bars and shops have been increasingly popular here and have attracted cigar fans and investors. As one of the world’s freest economy, local business are free to import different tobacco products. Cigars from Cuba, Honduras etc. have been greatly demanded.
Cigars have to be stored with great care, with ultimately high sensitivity to external environment, cigars are vulnerable to any improper temperature or humidity condition, which affect textures, tastes and its investment values. In order to well store customers’ collections, bars and shops generally offer personal cigar storage lockers with well-conditioned temperature and humidity control for most ideal storage environment, and all unnecessary human intervention should be avoided. Thus, our client – a high-end cigar bar – has expressed desire to offer the most optimal personal cigar storage to customers.
With ultimately high sensitivity to external environment, cigars are vulnerable to any improper temperature or humidity condition, thus it is necessary to avoid any intervention to the storage. As a highly valued personal belonging, our client required a deployment of a system for the personal storage’s access verification.
Access control deployments for valuables have been increasingly general, yet this time the deployment site is a high-end premise with elegant interior design, it would not be ideal to install each locker a verification device. Also, the storage lockers are installed compactly also makes it impractical for installation on every locker. Thus, a customized deployment was required.
Our client also required that they would be able to centrally the monitor the entire access control operation of all employees in the entire site, and all access logs are able to be reviewed anytime.

Technical Features
· The project is deployed with an access control solution that includes a unit of KR600E Wiegand Card Readers, a unit of EC10 Controllers, 3 units of EX16 Control Extension Boards, and a ZKBioSecurity 3.0 Software for central management.
· Each customer who subscribed cigar storage service will be issued an RFID card registered with client personal information for his or her individual locker. In order to legally access, clients are required to present the cards to be read by the card reader. With the EC10 controllers and EX16 extension boards, upon clients’ identity verification, the corresponding lockers will be opened.
· Both the access control reader and the remaining control modules are connected to and managed by the ZKBioSecurity 3.0 Software. Thus, verification processes are performed with only one card required.
· With the ZKBioSecurity 3.0, all access status and records are reviewable anytime.
· The only visible device of the deployment is the card reader which has minimized the change to the interior environment of the locker room. It also offers great convenience for their customers’ verification with only one card swiping which also ensures privacy and safety of their cigar storages. Our client is highly satisfied with the deployed solution and we have received positive feedback.
Function Description
· Readers deployed in this solution is KR200E, which is an RFID card reader. The former provides high durability with IP65 waterproof level. Its reading distance is up to 10 cm which enhances both card reading speed and accuracy.
· EC10 and EX16 deployed in this solution are generally utilized for elevator control, but is also optimal for applications that require one reader for different accesses. The EC10 Control Panel can restrict access up to ten points. The EX16 Extension Board restricts access up to an additional sixteen points. Each EC10 can support up to three EX16 boards. When combined together, a total fifty eight (58) point can be controlled with a single EC10 bundle. Note that EC10 panels can be daisy-chained together to control as many access points as desired, and the system is applicable to elevators, lockers, multi-door premises or any other deployment for one verification point and multiple access point also with diversified authorities of access.
· ZKBioSecurity 3.0 is deployed as the central management software of the access control system. It is an access control system management platform based on the browser/server architecture. Users can access and log in to the platform directly from browsers and view the verification conditions of all connected devices in real time on the browsers.
